What's New
Local Food Producers Directory is HERE!
Hot off the presses is the 2010 Local Food Producers Directory. If you have a mailbox and you live in Vanderhoof, Cluculz Lake, Fort Fraser or Fort St. James, you should have received one. If not, you can download a print-friendly version from here.
If you would like to be included in the 2011 Directory, set to be printed in June 2011, please contact us, or download the sign-up form and send it into the NVFN.
Apple Guy - 2010 Schedule
The Apple Guy is reporting a good yield this year, especially for peaches. His first stop in Vanderhoof will be August 23 at the Co-op parking lot 5:00pm. Click here for the 2010 summer schedule.
Seed Potatoes Needing a Home
The Nechako Valley Community Services Society has generously received a massive donation of seed potatoes. They are now looking for space to plant the potatoes. Their vision is that the potatoes be available to people who are in need. NVCSS will plant and harvest, but are looking for garden space and gardeners to tend the plants. They have A LOT of seed potatoes and hope to plant them all! Please contact NVCSS directly by email.
NVFN Food Events!
Members of the NVFN are planning some interesting Food Events for the summer. We will post information for some garden tours in Prince George. If you have an idea of a food related tour or event that you'd like to host for the community (or just your friends), let us know and we can help you get the word out!
SinkutView School Greenhouse - 'part of the community'
Students at SinkutView School in Vanderhoof have been learning about gardening, plants and good health by working in the greenhouse that they built at the school. When school is out starting in July, the greenhouse will be empty and free for use by the community. Call the school at 250-567-5133 or email them for more info.
